The PLUS in Research PLUS Africa constitutes activities such as the Practitioner Academy, Learn Academy, and Research Round Up. As coordinator of these programs, I sometimes feel like a juggler trying not to drop even one ball. For the Academies, I manage the programmes’ day-to-day activities such as recruitment of the cohorts, curriculum development, training schedules and evaluating their effectiveness, and engagement with participants and partner organizations. The Academies allow us to give back our knowledge and it is also so satisfying to see our goal of demystifying research in Africa being reached and how alumni and by extension their organizations have been impacted by the academies. In addition, and in liaison with my colleagues, we constantly brainstorm fresh ideas for our Research Round Up topics after which I plan the events that are open to the public for free where we discuss various topics of socio-economic concern from a research lens. For the freshly launched Research Spring, together with the team, we originate cutting edge research and learnings with an Afrocentric approach. I am particularly talented in and love qualitative research, so I also support the wider team by participating in research projects that utilize this approach. This helps me keep my hand in it and keep growing my experience and expertise.
I love spending time with my family and friends during most weekends, as I rediscover my love for cooking and baking. I also just love to spend time in solitude.
