As a Program Manager at Research PLUS, my role as an African MEL practitioner involves the management and overall coordination of research and evaluation projects in a diverse range of sectors and/or thematic areas. My day-to-day work encompasses design and execution of programs and projects from an Afro-centric perspective, client management, development of internal and external knowledge management outputs for strategic decision-making, team management, as well as capacity building through training and mentoring of our pool of young researchers in their growth to becoming young African MEL practitioners. Being a role with various interlinked components that work in unison like cogs in a wheel, it calls on the ability to be adaptable and flexible to manage and fix things as they arise.
With my experience of 20 years in the research industry, Research PLUS continues to offer a wealth of opportunities to not only utilize but broaden my knowledge base, exercise and further sharpen my skills and expertise while keeping abreast of the evolving research industry.
